R.I.P. BETTIE PAGE

Legendary pin-up model Bettie Page died in a Los
Angeles hospital on December 11 after suffering a
heart attack nine days earlier. Best known for the
cheesecake art she posed for in the 1950s and
immortalized as one of Playboy’s first centerfolds,
Page transcended the medium to become one of the
most enduring and ubiquitous symbols of American
sexuality in the 20th Century. She was 85. A web
memorial has been established at her official site,
www.bettiepage.com.
